How Recruiters Use Social Media By the Numbers

How Recruiters Use Social Media By the Numbers Using the data from Adeccos global study, this infographic breaks down how  recruiters can effectively use social media for online recruiting. The data is gathered from the responses of recruiters from 24 countries. 1,501  recruiters  participated in this  study, 73% using at least one social media account for professional purposes. For more information on the study you can download the full report at  adecco.com/socialrecruiting. Takeaways: Recruitment increasingly uses the internet and social media as a crucial tool. Typical candidates recruiters are searching for are non-managers. First impressions are everything! Recruiters admit candidates have been rejected due to the content on their social media profiles. Be careful with sensitive information! Recruiters are using social networks to source passive candidates, checking the accuracy of CVs, checking an applicants network, even their posts! The biggest reason for this is to diversify recruitment channels, at 58.3% RELATED:  How a Strong Online Network Helps You Get a Job How much does of your recruitment work involve the internet? Would You Move Overseas for a New Chapter in Your Career

Would You Move Overseas for a New Chapter in Your Career In a bit of a rut? Have the travel bug?  Just ended that dead-end long term relationship and looking for a change?  Have you ever considered moving overseas to start a new chapter of your career and life? One friend of mine felt called to move to Israel and is there right now (were thinking of you Laura!).  Another girlfriend took a job transfer in London and loved her time there, eventually being transferred back to the states.  And this weekend I met a young family who will be moving to Japan with their two kids so the husband can pursue a new role within his existing employer. If theres one fantasy place that Id love to visit or spend some time in its. wait for it. Dubai.  Is that strange? Maybe.  But believe it or not, the United Arab Emirates Dubai in particular apparently has tons of job opportunities waiting to be filled if youre qualified. If moving overseas seems like the solution to your quarter life crisis, you wont be the only one.  Thousands of women from all over the world already working there, many of them from the United States and from Europe. From a bit of research and a few of my personal contacts who have bee or worked there, it sounds like the salaries are excellent and not to mention TAX FREE (HUH!?!). Interested now? Perhaps Sex and the City 2 inspired some of us.  Dubai is a global city and is both a cultural and economic hub within a thriving, dynamic region of the world. The city, named after the emirate which surrounds it, is famed for towering skyscrapers, man-made islands (how this is possible I have no idea), amazing hotels, and dozens of incredible shopping malls, including the Dubai Mall (pictured below): the worlds largest shopping, leisure and entertainment destination. For those of you who also find appeal in Dubai, get ready to do some major shopping and spending.  Luckily (unlike many M iddle East or North African countries countries)  banking in Dubai is up to snuff! Youll even feel a bit American when you see banks like HSBC and Barclays around town. But beware:  unlike America, debt is taken VERY seriously in the UAE and can easily land you in hot water â€" or even jail â€" if youre not careful.  You must keep up with your bills and bank accounts!  How UN-American for many of us who have credit cards, car notes and student loans from what seems like all banks  in town. But is moving to a glamorous far away land really the right answer to your quarterlife crisis? Only YOU can answer that.  And maybe you wont answer that question until you get there and have stayed there for a certain amount of time. Thats ok.  Even if it was the wrong choice, its all part of your story. If youre thinking about moving overseas, here are a few resources for you.   You should definitely look into the cost of  rental apartments  and houses in the suburbs of whatever city you want to move to. For example,Clapham estate agents can probably get you a better deal than one in London if youre looking for a UK experience.  Have you ever studied or worked abroad?  Would you recommend it?   Would you ever move to a place like Dubai to pursue a new chapter?

Raise Your Hand!

Raise Your Hand! My friend Allie and I went to coffee the other day and she casually mentioned that she spoke at her college graduation ceremony. Im not talking small tiny college here: she spoke at Michigan States commencement- WOW! So I immediately interrupted her story and asked HOW she was able to partake in such a great honor. I assumed she must have been valedictorian or student body president but she wasnt. She simply said, I just raised my hand. Apparently she found out about the opportunity and volunteered. Perhaps no one else had the guts to represent but either way she had the great honor of representing her class. So we got on the topic of how important it is to raise your hand in life. We agreed that it is especially important when first starting out. Allie told me another story about someone she knows who randomly decided to email the President of a large, well respected international company when she was in college. The email suggested that they should go to lunch when the president was in town presenting to her college. They went to lunch and the person has been employed with the company ever since. The moral of the story here is, dont be afraid to take on a new challenge. Raise your hand for a new project. Volunteer for the opportunity to present to new clients or your companys executive board (even if you are terrified). Send an email to someone you dream of working for. Ask someone you admire to lunch. Reach out to those who intimidate you because most others wont. The simple action of raising your hand can lead to many exciting new partnerships, adventures and opportunities.

Pharmacy Tech Resume Samples

Pharmacy Tech Resume SamplesPharmacy tech resume samples are available for almost every type of job. In the past, pharmacy technicians were only given a resume to send out to employers. Today, nearly all jobs and industries require that pharmacy techs have an updated resume. This job can be challenging, but with a little bit of effort and resourcefulness, you will land your dream job. There are many types of job positions that will require a pharmacy tech resume. Typically, these positions will include: drug dispatchers, pharmacists, pharmacy techs, technicians, and pharmacy technologists. A lot of these jobs also involve the needs of patients. As a result, it is important to include the quality of patient care in your resume. When an employer reads your resume, they will know exactly what to expect from you.Pharmacy tech resume samples do not have to be complicated or formal. As long as you utilize good grammar guidelines, your resume will not be a problem for anyone. In fact, in mos t cases, your resume will be formal enough to be read by the person reviewing it. Your resume should not overwhelm the reader or hide its professionalism, which will help it to be the first choice resume for people applying for this position. You should always keep in mind the goal of a pharmacy tech resume sample. As stated earlier, a pharmacy tech resume sample does not have to be very complex. It is not necessary that it include too much information. Some of the more excellent examples of this type of resume can be found online. There are many free sample resumes available, but for some reason some people still struggle with these samples. Even if you do struggle with them, remember that there are different ways to get a hold of these samples. Many of these samples come in screen shots, which can help you determine whether or not the sample looks professional.A large amount of the resumes you see can come from the internet. Many websites will offer free samples. It is important to remember that although you may receive samples from websites, you will not get the chance to see the person in person. Many people just want to try out these samples in order to make sure that the website does not sell information that they can use elsewhere. You can also read through reviews written by previous users, which can help you choose the best samples. There are times when these samples do not come in screen shots but only include an outline of the sample. This is a perfectly acceptable way to display a sample, but some people may prefer to see more. It is also important to note that many sample resumes include testimonials from previous holders of the position. This can be used as a tool to help determine if you have what it takes to succeed in the field. Being able to see examples of the sample will give you the opportunity to learn how to write it.Pharmacy tech resume samples should not be too complex to be effective. Keep in mind that you are trying to put together a re sume that can easily find its way into the hands of a potential employer. While it may be easier to find free samples, it is worth remembering that the online samples may be more likely to be used than the print versions.

Leading with happiness - The Chief Happiness Officer Blog

Leading with happiness - The Chief Happiness Officer Blog I believe were seeing a new kind of leadership emerging. Its been a?truism that leadership is about maximizing business results, whatever it takes. As the economist Milton Friedman depressingly put it: The business of business is business. He argued that a?CEO who?spent resources on anything that did not enhance shareholder value was failing his duties and could be fired or sued. This kind of thinking is still incredibly prevalent in the business world and it leads to attitudes and actions that are incredibly damaging. This is the kind of thinking that lets a corporation: Fire 1,000s of employees?to raise stock prices temporarily. Engage in environmentally damaging production. Introduce a culture of overwork that?works employees to the bone while damaging their careers, their health and their private lives. Confuse and cheat customers into buying as much as possible?at the highest price possible, rather than helping customers buy what they?need. Exploit workers, always paying them as little as they can get away with to make more money for their investors. Create toxic cultures where employees live in near-constant fear and frustration. You may think me dystopian but these things go on daily in corporations all over the world.?And ultimately?executives think they are right to do these kinds of things because their only responsibility is shareholder value. They take?no responsibilities to do good in the world or even avoid doing bad. In fact, they have been so immersed in this kind of thinking that they can do incredible harm and feel no remorse. I have seen way too many?press releases where a CEO explains why she/he fired 1,000s of employees to enhance stakeholder value without?showing even a shred of regret?or emotional investment in the fact that their?leadership is now harming 1000s of families. And that is why I think we need a new kind of executive one that is motivated primarily by doing good.?Or, in other words, by increasing happiness. And I do see a lot of these leaders. They are not perfect people but they have a clear vision of what they want in the world and rather than just maximizing shareholder value, they want to create more happiness in 4 domains: For themselves For their employees For their customers For the world These leaders create organizations that are a force for good in the world. They lead?in a way that is sustainable not just environmentally but also economically and psychologically. Their employees lives are better and happier for working there. Customers lives are improved by the companys services or products. And the world is in some way a better place because this company exists. And dont ignore the first one: These leaders are happy themselves, because they know that their leadership is making things better, not worse. There are many examples of these leaders in all industries and all over the world.?Ill be writing a book about them next. The ones I know of include Tony Hsieh, Richard Branson, Ben Zander, Ricardo Semler, Lars Kolind, Vineet Nayar, Thyra Frank, Rich Sheridan, Herb Kelleher, Colleen Barrett, Charlie Kim, Patch Adams, Odd Reitan, Ingvar Kamprad, Yvon Chouinard and many, many others. Your take Do you see more happy leadership or more if the old kind out there? What does either of them do to you? And if you know any other happy leaders, Id love to hear about them. Benefits You Could Get From Your Next Summer Internship - CareerEnlightenment.com

Benefits You Could Get From Your Next Summer Internship Most people who take part in summer internships hope that they’ll lead to paid jobs with the respective companies. Indeed, that can happen if you impress your supervisor and prove you have what it takes to excel in the role, but it’s also important to realize that there are advantages you could enjoy that go beyond a future job.A Wealth of Experience DiversityThere’s a lot of talk about hiring diverse workforces in today’s society, and that often means recruiting people who represent a wide range of ages, sexual orientations, races, and ethnicities. Those are examples of diverse traits that people are born with, so they don’t change. However, there’s another kind of diversity called experience diversity, and it’s something you could gain through your internship or other new things.  Experience diversity occurs naturally when you step outside of your comfort zone or talk to people who have different opinions than the ones you hold. Doing that can feel uncomfortable at f irst, but it could help you grow.A study found that experience diversity  has a favorable effect  on people in creative roles because it helps them develop ideas. But, even if you don’t end up working in a creative sector, you’ll undoubtedly need to come up with ideas throughout your career. Analysts have pointed out that the rise of social media means that people are often primarily exposed to individuals who think the same ways they do. When that happens, experience diversity doesn’t happen because it’s as if individuals exist in echo chambers.Avoidance of BoredomA typical college schedule contains obligations that go far beyond attending classes. For example, there are clubs, sororities, fraternities, football games, and parties on the agenda. As such,  college students can become bored  during their summer breaks. Initially, they may feel excited about all the new things they’ll get to do and the friends they’ll see, but the newness often wears off within a few weeks .  For better or worse, college makes people stick to routines. But, if people don’t have summer jobs or internships that cause them to adapt to other regular processes, they’ll likely find themselves sitting around their houses with nothing to do.Many internships require less from the people taking part than a full-time job or a college schedule would. That means you should have enough to do to stop you from twiddling your thumbs, but you’ll still have enough free time to enjoy your break. Discover New CapabilitiesHave you ever realized that you’re great at something because a new role forces you to try things you’d never attempted? Your internship may illuminate skills that you didn’t know you had. That’s because you may feel so determined to do your best with whatever tasks you get asked to do that you become willing to dive into new things, then feel surprised by the results. As you get more acquainted with the things you can do, you may end up realizing that your internship gives you an excellent excuse to explore a new career path that hadn’t crossed your mind before. Or, you may simply become more confident than ever as you realize you’re a person who’s bursting with abilities that aren’t regularly used.Develop Your Goal-Oriented MindsetYou probably set goals throughout the year without even realizing it. For example, you might try to write two pages of a term paper in a three-hour span. You’ll likely conclude that an internship helps you stay focused on other kinds of goals. As a start, you’ll need to set a goal related to  finding an internship, but once you get one, your next goal may be to learn an unfamiliar tool or interface in a week’s time.Goal-setting  is part of having a succ essful existence. Goals keep you motivated to achieve, and they allow you to continue improving no matter what you set out to do. Your internship supervisor may assign goals to you. But, even if that doesn’t happen, you should take it upon yourself to set goals that you strive for during the duration of the internship. These are just some of the advantages that you could notice during your next summer internship. In closing, remember that an internship is what you make it. In other words, if you show up on schedule, have an open mind, and show that you’re eager to learn, those things should go a long way in helping the internship be worthwhile. Those characteristics should also help you stand out and make others feel inspired by your attitude.
